Stand Out Eyes

“Eye makeup is designed to make your eyes stand out” – Bobbi Brown

If you have never tried a gel eyeliner before I highly suggest you immediately head to Bloomies and expand your makeup collection. Gel eyeliners come out so crisp and smooth. You would think a gel would be hard to apply, but think again. Sure you need to have a steady hand and a good brush, but the end result is worth it. Eyes just pop so much more!

Application is easy and I find you are able to create more liner styles as opposed to the standard pencil. You can create as thin of a line as you want or get spicy and create wings. Think Adele!

In my experience, the best of the gel eyeliners is Bobbi Brown’s Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner. This award-winning liner gives you the look of liquid liner with the ease & feel of a gel formula. Long-wearing, water-resistant color glides on & let’s you get it just right before it dries – then stays without a smear or crease. It is reasonably priced at $22 a shade. I say reasonably because the formulation lasts you quite a while. Thanks to my Aunt for the gift card to Bloomies, I scooped up the Black Ink shade. This Jet Black color is divine!

Flower Child: Badgley Mischka Fall 2012 Bridal Show

Beyond. Stunning.

These are the only two words I can think of to describe the hair at the Badgley Mischka Fall 2012 Bridal Show. I only wish I was there in person to see the details up close and personal. Luckily, my Badgley Mischka guru, my dear friend Ashley, sent through an exclusive backstage look.

So romantic and glamorous at the same time. I LOVE the hydrangea interwoven with the tightly pinned-back chignon. But my absolute favorite of all the looks was the chignon with the magnolia flowers. I will have a version of this hair style on my wedding day because I have always loved magnolias as a child. The simple beauty and elegance the magnolia portrays with a combination of a soft cream with highlights of golden taupe just screams romance.

What I love about these looks is the simplicity of the hairstyle in and of itself. Up-dos are a little tricky to pull off – there is a fine line between prom cheesy and elegant. The simple, tight twirl with the romantic swoop over the ears is perfection. Yes please!

Loving this look? Ciao Beautiful is digging deep and working with stylists to get the step-by-step how to recreate. Stay tuned…

Oh Canada!

What can I say… I am a jet setter. Ha! Well, sort of…

I just got back in from a quick weekend getaway to Cooperstown, NY and Niagara Falls. What is in Cooperstown you ask? Well the baseball hall of fame of course! Needless to say Scott planned this part of the trip. But I am a sports loving type of gal so I really enjoyed going to see the where baseball was invented. I was a huge fan of the Houston Astros growing up – major Craig Biggio fan – so it was cool getting to see his shoes, hat and bat. I must admit I still have his autograph…

After Cooperstown we headed back to Syracuse for the night. On the way to grab dinner and a few drinks in downtown, we overheard a parking attendant say Daniel Tosh was playing two shows that very night down the street. My face lit up! We scored last-minute tickets and headed to the Landmark Theater. Great show – offensive, but a ton of laughs. Tosh basically stated towards the end of his set, “I am looking for those few people I haven’t offended yet, and offend you.” Abusive humor is what he does best!

Sunday we woke up early and headed straight for Canada. We walked over the Rainbow Bridge to Canada so I could get my stamp in my Passport – an absolute must. Niagara Falls was beautiful. Well the waterfall itself that is, the city of Niagara Falls was eh… We walked down one street it was seriously like pee wee’s playhouse meets a state fair. It was truly bizarre. But just a few feet away was the beautiful white misting of the horseshoe-shaped waterfalls. Really glad we took the time to check out this beautiful US/Canada landmark. Who knows if we would ever get this opportunity again.

The sock bun even made an appearance in Canada! And I even came up with a new way to wear the spring must-have denim shirt. Check it out… Simply wear the denim shirt unbuttoned over a maxi dress. Throw on a summer scarf and a pair of sunglasses and you are set. Hair is second day waves – use a little dry shampoo and smoothing cream to refresh the look of day old hair. I love when you realize you didn’t pack enough clothes but cleverly put what you have left together to create an entirely new outfit! Success!
