The App That Will Change Your Workout For Good

18 Jan

NTC App

Alright ladies… I have possibly found one of the best workout apps ever created. It “gives you your own personal trainer, anytime, anywhere. Get lean, toned and strong with more than 85 custom-built workouts. Unlock exclusive extra workouts from celebrities like Lea Michele, professional athletes like Shawn Johnson, and Rihanna’s personal trainer, Ary Nuñez.” Nike has done it again…

The app is called NTC (Nike Training Club) and is totally free. That is right, you can have your very own personal trainer for free. You are probably thinking there is no way this app can take place of a personal trainer, but it can.

Choose a Workout Goal

You start by clicking “Get Workout” and can choose from four different goals:

1. Get Lean – a high interval cardio drills to slim down

2. Get Toned – light weights and intervals to add definition

3. Get Strong – increased weights and reps to build strength

4. Get Focused – 15-minute workouts to target specific areas

Simply choose the workout that fits your goal. For instance, I am looking to add definition not slim down, so I would choose Get Toned. I can also pick a workout in Get Focused to target my specific problem area (i.e. stomach and derriere).

View All Moves Before You Begin

Each workout (minus the Get Focused) has a beginner, intermediate and advanced workout section. I considered myself intermediate, which was a mistake. I was in pain for four days after. So err on the side of caution when you are picking your level. There you will find six different workouts that are each 45 minutes. You can scroll through each workout and see what moves you will be doing and for how long.

Best part… there are even videos of women actually repeating the move. You are able to see exact movements up close to make sure you are doing them correctly. It is beyond!

Step by Step + Video

Nike could have stopped there and still claim the top spot for a workout app, but they didn’t. They added incentive. The more you workout, the more rewards you are given. For example, once you workout for 60 minutes you unlock five power smoothie recipes. These power smoothies are “made just for NTC members, these super tasty smoothies are packed with body benefits and so easy to make. Each one was specifically created to amplify your workout and maximize your results.” I’m making the Pre-Game Boost smoothie tonight! Other rewards you can unlock are bonus workouts from star trainers.

Workout More to Unlock Celebrity Workouts

The first workout I tried was the Get Toned Intermediate Circuit Challenge. I literally could not move my legs like a normal human being for at least three days after. It was intense! Today I went with the Beginner Shape & Sculpt and I am pretty sure I won’t be walking normal for the next few days.

Couch to 5K Update

18 Dec

It Feels Good to be Back!

So I totally slacked off on my running, but after I purchased my wedding dress I realized I need to get back on the horse. I am back in action and completed week eight of the Couch to 5K running program.

Week eight consists of a five-minute brisk walk, 28 minutes of running, then another five-minute brisk/cool down walk. The total distance comes out to be about three miles. Here are my stats:

Ran: 28:00 minutes

Distance: 2.4 miles

Pace: 11:30 minutes per mile – a little slow but I am working on it!

One more week to go!

Couch to 5K Update

24 Aug

2.37 Miles!

I have completed week seven of the nine week Couch to 5K program. Week seven consists of running 25 minutes straight all three days. While I have already run 25 minutes straight by the end of week six, I did increase my time and distance slightly. I also do not feel as winded, which is quite an accomplishing feeling. My stats are as follows:

Ran: 25:30 minutes

Distance: 2.37 miles – .11 miles longer

Pace: 10:44 minutes per mile – knocked half a minute off!

Calories Burned: 231

Bring it on week eight!
