NYFW was a DCT

Me at Fashion Week

New York Fashion Week was a Dream Come True! Just the energy and vibes Lincoln Center has during this time, takes you into another realm on New York. The long days, cold weather and dirty subway rides become a faint memory as your are sucked in to the incredible beauty that is New York Fashion Week.

Immediately when you walk in, you see all the sponsors’ booths paired with fashion. The Mercedes-Benz booth was IN-SANE. Stunning white manikins wearing the most stunning, sparkly dresses. These dresses were all about the little details, from the ever-changing pattern of rectangle sequins to the full length kaftan decked out in ostrich feathers. Lining the wall were platform shoes made from each color finish you could find in the Mercedes Car being displayed. Simply stunning!

My dear friend Ashley had the hookup to check out The Badgley Mischka and Mark & James fashion show. And if I thought the Mercedes dresses were amazing, Badgley Mischka was on a total different playing field.

Immediately you walk into the room, and walk down the runway to find your seat. Slowly, the stars start to show and lights begin to pop as the press is snapping candid photos. The famous faces scene at this show included Kelly Osbourne, Kelly Bensimon and Joan Rivers. Joan Rivers made a grand entrance from the back of the runway with cameras all over. She received a standing ovation as she strutted her stuff down the catwalk and stripping off her jacket. It was fabulous!

Then the lights dim, the music starts and the energy fills the room. The beautiful models begin walking out, and the first thing I noticed (of course) was the hair. Huge, crimped and mega teased hair! Resembled an afro. Totally a hot new trend, because once us creators in the hair industry make it easy for you to re-create a runway style, they change it up (cough cough… pin straight hair)!  Then the outfits, oh the outfits. The runway was filled with sparkles and metallic – a trend I am totally crushing on right now. And the shoes… well check out part of the show for yourself…

FYI… Kelly Bensimon is the woman in the front row wearing the bright green skirt. She is bigger in person than you would think. Oh and please ignore my amateur video taking.

As you can hear from our video, Ashley and I were in awe of the fashion. Badgley Mischka truly creates pieces of artwork and I was lucky enough to witness it in person. One of THE best moments of my life!
