New York at Christmas Time

12 Dec

From the Rockettes to the window displays on 5th Avenue, New York  at Christmas time is a sight to see. You can literally walk down 5th avenue without even going into a store. The window displays are pieces of artwork. I spent an entire weekend taking in all the beautiful decorations throughout the city.

It started with the Christmas Music spectacular at Radio City Music Hall, which was incredible. The Rockettes were stunning (as expected) and the entire performance was breathtaking. At the end of the performance, they recreate the manger scene with live camels. It was unbelievable!

Next we went shopping down 5th Avenue to see the window displays and checking out the light shows. Louis Vuitton’s warm colored displays with the circus animals were my favorite.

Then we made a stop in at the famous FAO Schwarz to do a little shopping for my nephew. That place had more toys than anyone can imagine. Huge stuffed animals kids could climb on! You could even find large candy that you thought only existed in the fictional world of Willy Wonka. A kids (and adults) dream world.

We ended the weekend with going to see the tree at Rockefeller Center and attempt to ice skate. The line for ice skating is about two hours long, so we bailed to grab drinks before our broadway show. Which was the perfect ending to a perfect, Christmas-filled weekend!
