3-Day Straightening Treatment

Straightening Hair or Everyday Life for the Frizzy Hair Types

Salon Keratin treatments have hit the market and have trickled down to the mass market over the past few months. One example of this “dumbed down” version of a Keratin treatment is John Frieda’s 3-Day Straight Semi-Permanent Styling Spray. This product is a brilliant proposition and I must applaud John Frieda on such great positioning.

But taking a closer look at the product, I dare to say there is nothing special about this Styling Spray. After testing it, I am convinced it is just a silicone (i.e. serum) in a spray format. If you read the packaging it reads “Sealing in straight styles for up to 3 days*”. That funny little asterisk tells you a lot. ALWAYS read those asterisks – they give you the full story. The side note to this claim is *or until next shampoo if less than 3 days. So do not expect this product to keep your hair straight for 3 days even after you wash as a Keratin Treatment would. Then my eye caught another note on the package. Basically the product says to run a straightener through your hair during the three days to maintain your straight style. Well duh! Of course spraying in the product, straightening your hair, don’t wash for three days and straighten your hair each day in between will keep your hair straight for three days. I bet you don’t even need to spray the product and your hair will remain straight.

My Advice: Save your money and keep looking for a better straightening product. John Frieda does color well, but straightening treatments they need a little work.

I’ve totally always wondered about these kits. I think Garnier had one too. Thanks for the scoop, once again!
